Can I take my JWLABS model on an airplane?

There is no physical danger to either Model A or Model B, if the instrument is packed in the luggage compartment, lower air pressure will do no harm. It may be a good idea to remove the batteries.
The new Model B version 7 however, does have a solid aluminium Faraday cage inside, which may appear as a solid block to the X-ray scanners. It is possible that this might present a problem. It is unlikely that they will be able to reassemble it, if they take it apart. Thankfully, the sort of nonsense logic that presumes that taking tweezers away from 80 year old ladies is doing something to make the country more secure, has been replaced by calmer thinking.
Customers in Turkey, and other countries have had problems getting Model B back into the US even before "9-11". No such problems have been reported for Model A, and none are expected.
It is certainly possible that airport security will become tighter over time in different ways, as they learn what that requires. One way to help prevent unknown electronic devices from entering a plane, would be through the use of RFID. (Radio Frequency Identification) If this happens, and it probably will as RFID continues to proliferate, JWLABS machines may be subjected to additional inspection, as these do not include an RFID chip at this time.
RFID is a method of remotely determining the contents of packages, and personal property. It is much like the RFID tags that are now commonly implanted in pets. They are also in cell phones, and are hidden in other common items, even now. People feel it is a violation of our personal privacy.
